Grocery stores sell a variety of seasoning blends, but at a high price. These blends also contain additional ingredients that you may not want to consume, such as fillers and preservatives. Instead of spending your hard earned money on these dry mixes, create your own blended meat seasoning. The seasoning stores well in an airtight container placed in a cool, dry location.

Chili Seasoning Mix

Whether you have a few football parties on the horizon, or you simply want a meal that will warm you up on a cold evening, chili seasoning mix is the way to go. In a bowl combine 1/2 cup chili powder, 1/8 cup onion powder, 1/4 cup garlic powder, 1/8 cup cumin, 1 1/2 tablespoons oregano, 1 1/2 tablespoons thyme, 1 tablespoon paprika, and 3 shakes of red pepper flakes. Transfer the blend to storage container until you're ready to cook the chili.

Delicious Barbecue Rub

During the spring and summer months, you'll want to fire up the grill and invite a few friends over. Guests will love this blended meat seasoning that gives ribs and steaks a barbecue flavor. To create this seasoning you'll need to mix 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, 1/8 cup black pepper, 1/8 cup onion powder, 1/8 cup paprika, 1/8 cup cumin, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, 2 tablespoons of sea salt, and 2 dashes of red pepper flakes. Keep the barbecue rub in an airtight container if not using right away.

Ranch Hamburger Blend

Hamburgers are great all year long. Give your beef patties some flavor by mixing in a ranch seasoning blend. You can make this by combining 1/4 cup dried parsley, 1/4 cup dry powdered buttermilk, 1 1/2 tablespoons of dill leaf, 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 1/2 tablespoons onion powder, 1 teaspoon chives, 1/2 teaspoon basil, and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper. Salt is optional with this blend. After mixing the ingredients, place them in a storage container.

Spicy Fajita Seasoning

This handy spicy fajita seasoning blend works great with sliced steak, pork, and chicken. Take out a bowl and add 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup chili powder, 1/8 cup paprika,  2 tablespoons sea salt, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 tablespoon onion powder, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon cumin powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, and three shakes of red pepper flakes. Combine the ingredients to form the seasoning blend and then store in an air-tight container.

It's a good idea to place labels on your storage containers. This is especially true if you prepare a few different seasoning blends at a time and store them in the same location. You can also explore other options if you check companies like Riley's Meat Seasoning Co..
